Night Navigation Experience - Pentland Hills

Join us to experience the hills at night. It's a whole different world out there in the dark! We will put on head torches and use micro navigation skills to explore the hills. This is a fully immersive experience where you will learn how to trust in what a map and a compass are telling you. The wildlife sounds are amplified in the dark and you will be keenly listening for the sound of a stream or looking for a glimpse of trees in the moonlight.

Prior knowledge of map reading and using a compass is desirable but not essential. This activity requires a reasonable level of physicality as we will be going over uneven terrain. If you have any concerns about this, please contact us to discuss. The group size is limited to 6 participants per instructor.

The following areas covered during this course:

- Understanding Ordnance Survey Maps

- Orientation of the map

- Map to ground

- Measuring distance using different techniques

- Basic compass work

This activitiy starts at 6pm and finishes at 9pm. Meeting at Bonaly Car Park.
